Winter is here – enjoy the rich flavours that winter brings to our tables

Winter is here and our tables are now filled with rich, delicious and earthy foods – we look at some of this seasons finest produce

Now that the winter woollies are firmly out of the wardrobe and the winter winds a’ howling, it’s time to give in to your cravings for calorific content and warming winter food. Time to kick back and start to enjoy flavoursome seasonal comfort food employing all the best in our wonderful local produce. From Pheasant to Guinea-fowl, Rabbit to Venison, don’t  hold back. It’s time now to enjoy the richness that the season has to offer and indulge your taste buds.

Take advantage of the opportunities for dining in with friends and family and trying new foods and flavours. You might just discover a few gems that you’ll never want to do without in 2014. We all need to challenge our palette every now and then.

Even if you’re not an adventurous carnivore, you can still discover some wonderful cuisine when Salt and Slate prepare them for you. We aim to bring a high quality dining experience to your venue or home and keep you asking us back time and again for more delicious flavours.

Calorific cravings

Now is not the time to count the calories or worry about your waistline, now is the time to enjoy the freshest of seasonal produce, potatoes which taste of the earth from which they were picked, locally picked gourmet mushrooms fresh from the woods we gathered them in, swedes and sweet potatoes from our rich autumn harvest. We’ll bring it all to you wherever your event or occasion is.

Panacotta, apples, blackberries and all things winter

Panacotta made from finest local cream, with rich Autumn blackberries and cranberries with a sprig of mint to garnish. Lightly spiced apple pie with a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon, topped off with homemade vanilla and spice cream or even ice-cream if you prefer.

It’s time to entertain your taste buds to a cacophony of rich sauces and flavours that winter has to offer, cranberry sauce and turkey with chestnut stuffing. Cashel Blue soaked in finest port and served with crisp salty crackers. Local Cheshire cheese washed down with a sumptuously full bodied Rioja. If you’re looking further afield to fill your cheeseboard, why not try some award winning Fivemiletown Ballyoak smoked cheese washed down with a rich blackcurrant Shiraz from the New World.
